Longparish C of E Primary School

Our Curriculum Intent

At the heart of our school is a belief that learning should inspire, empower, and awaken the full potential in every child. We champion learning through play and active, experiential learning that brings joy, movement, and meaning into every day. Children are not passive recipients — they are leaders of their learning, encouraged to explore, create, and discover in ways that feel natural, purposeful, and exciting.

We place a central focus on oracy, recognising that every child’s voice matters. Through talk, storytelling, debate, and discussion, we nurture confident communicators who can express themselves with clarity, listen with empathy, and engage critically with the world.

Our curriculum is built on golden threads that run deeply through all learning, including the migration and movement of mankind — helping children understand the journeys that have shaped our shared history, cultures, and identities — and climate and sustainability, empowering children to protect and cherish the world they live in. We are committed to co-creating a climate action plan with pupils, staff, and families that places responsibility for the planet at the heart of our school life, encouraging every member of our community to be agents of change.

We believe that every child can achieve anything, given the right support, opportunity, and environment. Consistency in high expectations, inclusive practices, and relational approaches ensures that our children feel safe, seen, and inspired to thrive across the curriculum.
